DIRECTOR AND CONDUCTOR

Kym Mc has spent rather a lot of time at Brisbane Music Studio, having previously filled the roles of inaugural piano teacher and The Sound Collective accompanist. She comes back to BMS with over seventeen years of musical training and performance experience, having received basic training on many instruments including cello, piano, guitar, drumkit, voice and orchestral percussion.
Over the years Kym has become particularly known as a specialist in music theatre, having played for many auditions and worked with many theatre companies: including accompanying the season of Brisbane Arts Theatre’s Peter Pan (2007) and being asked to assist as co-music director for Centre Stage Players’ production of Sweeney Todd (2009). More recently, at the end of 2011 – with the help of BMS and some very talented friends – Kym managed to independently stage and play for a performance workshop of her completely original music theatre song cycle Thanks for Playing, which is currently in further development.
In 2012, Kym left BMS for Europe and received an offer to perform a classical piano concert for a relatively small South Italian town where only two people spoke English. This is an offer she wasn’t able to accept at the time, but she looks forward to taking it up on her return. She holds a Blue Card, a Bachelor of Music (in classical piano performance) from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and is currently working for a Bachelor of International Studies.
She has also rather eagerly begun the countdown until she travels to Paris to study music and theatre.
